About the Scheme

PMMVY is a direct cash transfer scheme designed to provide partial compensation for the wage loss that working women face during pregnancy and after childbirth, ensuring they get adequate rest and nutrition.

High-Value Insider Info: Exact Financials & The Girl Child Rule

  1. First Child Breakdown (₹5,000): 1st Installment (₹3,000): Given after early registration of pregnancy and at least one Antenatal Check-up (ANC). 2nd Installment (₹2,000): Given after the child is born, the birth is registered, and the child receives their first cycle of vaccinations (BCG, OPV, DPT, Hepatitis-B).
  2. The Second Child Clause (Crucial Update): You can claim PMMVY for your second child, BUT only if the second child is a girl. The government will give a massive single installment of ₹6,000 after the girl's birth is registered. If the second child is a boy, you get nothing under this scheme.
  3. The 270-Day Deadline (Hidden Rule): You cannot apply for this money two years after your child is born. You must register your pregnancy within 270 days of your Last Menstrual Period (LMP) to be eligible.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Pregnant and Lactating Mothers aged 19 years or above.
  • Exclusion: You are completely excluded if you are a regular employee of the Central/State Government, PSU, or if you already receive maternity benefits under the ESI (Employees' State Insurance) act.

Exact Navigation Path: How to Apply
